Lela Winton
Lela G. Winton, born Lela Grace Stephens is a Western North Carolina native who describes herself as a born Mountain Girl. Her love of the outdoors and the mountains is what has kept her living in North Carolina her entire life. Besides being a “mountain girl,” she is a self-described Movie Buff, goofy mom and a diligent organizer. We have Lela to thank for being the first person to suggest (i.e. beg, plead, bribe, blackmail) that our group of friends make our first film ‘The Silver Slugger’. Then, a year later Lela suggested bringing Director Katie Damien into the project- bumping our production potential up by many degrees.
In her own words, “I have always known that our group of friends was incredibly creative and talented. Knowing one another for decades does not hurt- we have been through a lot together so when the stress of movie making would cripple most production groups, our group comes together and pulls amazing stuff out of our you-know-where. I am very excited to be finally making a feature length production with this amazing group of individuals.”
Matt Shepard
Matt has had a flair for acting since he
was a small boy, when he began doing pratfalls to stress out his mother
and created different characters and voices in order to entertain
himself. He studied graphic design at Columbia College Chicago before
switching to acting, and he doubles as the lead graphic designer of the
Gorillas group, creating logos, the website, film poster and the like,
as well as being a co-script writer. He spent four years as part of an
improv comedy troupe in Asheville, North Carolina making millions
(hundreds) laugh in the process. Matt has always been multi-talented and
in this endeavor, he is no different. He loves being part of the
Gorilla With A Mustache team, and loves the people on said team. He is
thankful to Lela for wrangling this crew together in 2009 and setting
sail on this wonderous voyage.
In
his free time, Matt plays organized baseball and flag football and is
always up for a game of volleyball. He follows sports with a rabidness
that belies his outward countenance. Growing up in St. Louis instilled a
love of Cardinals baseball, probably due to something in the drinking
water, and Game 6 of the 2011 World Series was baseball nirvana as far
as he is concerned. He is a musician (well, a drummer anyway) and can be
found playing with various bands, on his desk, steering wheel or any
object in existence. Oh, he also thinks you’re pretty awesome.
Eruch Adams
Eruch Adams was born to ex-hippies in New Mexico. The cord was
wrapped around his neck thrice, some say, cutting off vital oxygen to
the brain, but others argue this was the moment of his first epiphany,
or “communion,” if you will, with the “other side.” The spirit world. He
was able to see beyond the veil of gross matter. Perhaps met by a
guide, call it an Angel if you must, and Eruch’s first question to this
spirit being was, “What the fuck?”After the cord situation was resolved, the oxygen began flowing, and his family proceeded to move no less than 17 times before he reached adulthood. In that time, there were travels to Europe and India, at the expense of school, grades, or any sense of belonging. Ironically, it was after one such exotic voyage that Eruch was asked to write a story for the Bigfork high newspaper about his recent trip to India, which ended up being a two-part epic that launched him into the world of writing with a casual fury. A glib concern. A totalitarian ease, that had nothing to do with his command of English grammar (he missed several key weeks of that. Just the part about comma use and a good bit about spelling.)
But dammit, he had passion, and a command of the English language that made some laugh and several cry, and the school principal sweat a few times.
After 14 years of writing short plays, in which there is all of one day to write, rehearse, and perform—getting invited to take part in a 48 hour film competition seemed lackadaisically easy. It’s been all jazz hands and jolly ranchers since, and turning the winning Touched By Angels short film into a feature length movie seemed the logical conclusion to a charmed project and a great crew. Through writing an angel and a demon character, Eruch has been able to give expression to his own inner angel and incredibly inappropriate demon that is always telling him to say socially troubling things.
In his spare time Eruch is a husband, father, and writes a kick ass novels.
